Webpage on a CD?

I have been asked to reproduce subject notes for a GCSE class onto an online format - I've decided webpage would be ideal as students can log in from home, and within school etc.

I'm now debating about putting the webpage onto CD - Is it just a case of copying all the folders / documents etc onto CD and instructing people to simply click on "index.html" or the like to begin to browse the "website"?

I plan to have a search feature on the site - I assume this will be created with PHP / MySQL but how would I go about replicating this search feature onto the CD-ROM version?

Thanks in advance - Steven

hi,

i had to do a similar thing, i just made the web pages as normal then put them onto CD, with all the images/documents folders etc.
I also put an autorun file on there with a company logo so when the CD kicks off the index page auto loads.

You won't be able to use PHP or MySQL (or any kind of server-side scripting) if you put your site on a CD. You need to have a server to actually execute the scripts, remember. So basically, no, it wouldn't be possible to have a search function on the CD.
