Website Banner Maker Software (Any Tips)?

Need to make a new banner for my website. Can anyone recommend any good sites or software that is easy to use and will produce excellent results?

What do you mean by "banner"?

If you just mean the top of (and therefore the whole of) a website then try Wordpress and its themes.

GIMP/Photoshop and some creativity and elbow grease.

Or just use a WP template.
