Website feedback

1st impression is that the banner is too tall

and the icons down the left side look wrong in black and white ( and wrong choice of icon all together)

also do you need a map showing where you are ? the internet means you can work from anywhere, so why limit yourself.

and personally, the text on the front page should not be done as a blog style, it should be a nice neat paragraph or two that says who you are and what you do.

I want to get into an agency doing print, web work really had enough of games :D

Not to be offputting or anything, but if you're looking for a career in web, you should really learn simple html/css. Your code is horrid.

Also, if the graphical aspect is more your thing, your site really doesn't show it. It's very plain and template-ish.
Look through some CSS galleries to get an idea of current trends and then put your own spin on it.

I have to agree with Trip on this, the website doesn't show a high standard of web/graphical work.

hmm just negative feedback that's the first i've had really tbh, im not a coder im an artist as the car on the site is modelled by me in 3DS max i'll have to spruce it a bit more to make that apparent.

negative feedback (or more over, honest feedback)

is the best kind, as it shows you where you need to make improvements.

As mentioned above, negative is the best kind as it tells you where you're going wrong.

I thought the car was a picture until you mentioned it so you're obviously very good at 3d stuff. Are you marketing yourself as such though or are you trying to get a job doing webdesign/development?
If it's 3d stuff, show a lot more of your work as there isn't an emphasis on it.
If it's webdesign, it's very important to have a top notch website because the market is tough as there is so much competition. Average will only cut it if you're looking for a below average job.

'll have to do a flash animaton for the banner as to show my 3d skills and incorparate it with my 2d stuff i would like work creating adverts packaging etc the web is just an portal to that as coding bores the life out of me im a graphics type :D

Flash banners can be cheesy if done wrong.

First impressions left navigation is all wrong and code uses tables. It does indeed look a bit templateish.

Good first try though.

it sounds like you could make a nice gallery to show off images of your work

bit like a photographer would have

If you're applying to be a graphics designer, keep the website simple, with a nice gallery to display your work. On the other hand, if you want to move into web design, then the website will have to near perfect as you can get, with a good gallery ;)

I don't mean to be rude at all but any problems with the layout and coding aside what are you trying to get across in the website?

The only information I've got from that website is that you have worked on games in some unknown capacity and made some logos for unknown or possibly imaginary companies. If this is the thing you're going to show prospective employers you should expand a lot more on a case by case basis as anyone can put to together an image or two that look like they could be logo design. I'd also drop the forum signatures from your logos page.

Think about making it a lot more simple, and for each logo you post maybe post alternate ideas you may have come up with and a little back story as to what company it was for, what their requirements were etc...

I have a portfolio for my 3d stuff i just thought id have a go @ a website wish i hadnt bothered now lol

I think the comments in this thread have been fair. Constructive criticism should never been referred to as slagging off.

Why do you assume people have no web site experience?

Looks a lot better.

As for coding, couple of things.

Firstly try and make it 960px wide, it's kinda of the standard resolution.
Secondly, if you want to improve your web developing skills, ditch the absolute positioning and try and do everything relatively.

I mean you've essentially coded the website upside down and used the absolute positioning to put it in place, (which works in the browser you're using but will be different in almost every browser.)

start be rearranging you html file so everything is in the right order, then use css to style and adjust it.

That should keep you busy for the moment. Defiantly got a lot of potential though :)

whilst that site looks better, it also looks like you have taken a template and just put it on the web.

atleast edit the text and add your own

and i know your learning, so good on you for trying.. keep it up
