been asked to do a website for my local, The purpose of the site is to inform visitors what entertainment will be on maybe upto a month in advance, im ok with xhtml and css, but wondered if this is the way to go, or would wordpress be a better solution for this type of site, i have never used wordpress before btw, im not being paid for this so was thinking find a template i like and redo all the images myself to get the design i want.

if anyone has any better solutions or has done this type of site before where information will change/be added on a weekly basis then please help.
 
Something like WordPress will be perfect - it will give an excellent back-end to allow them to update it themselves, rather than calling on you all the time.
 
If wordpress doesn't float there boat there's loads here

Another option would just be a facebook group. It's not very customisable, but when they create events it'll inform group members automatically.

Seems like a straight forward HTML site would suit you
and if you can get them to pay you to update it then all good
