For a wedding banquet, at a chinese restaurant (chinese wedding), where the couple and/or families stand infront of a red backdrop, with large shiny gold characters, would you take the pictures using a flash, or with a faster lens without? Main worries are the reflection. Maybe bouncing is an option - it depends if the ceiling is white and not all red!

Prior to that, will probably take some pics of the antics of the groom atempting to sweet talk his way into the brides house! It usually involves the females standing on the other side of the door, requesting the males prove their masculinity before letting them through!

The couple will have a formal photographer, i'll just be capturing the offbeat moments such as the games they play as part of the ceremony.

The event was done and dusted and i bounced the flash off the white ceiling. I noticed the hired photographer didnt bounce, just a direct flash - I tried a few direct, but maybe its a personal preference as i preferred the warmer shots of the bounced flash.
