Wedding Favours for men?

When I got married I gave 15 men a key and when I did my speech, I explained as I am now married to my beautifull wife, can all the men hand the keys to her house back.

15 men stood up, walked over and put their keys on the table. It got a laugh, round of applause and cost me all of £20 to get the keys.

Not exactly 'favours' as such but it got a great laugh and a red face from the bride. ;)

Thanks guys, great help there. I will be buying for about 60 people in all. I will then be giving my 3 ushers, best man and my self some nice cuff links, and my best man a Skean Dhu (Kilt Knife) with a nice message of thanks with the date of the Wedding engraved on it.

Oh I have decided to go for miniature bottles of whiskey single malt (Glenmorangie) in the cardboard tubes, nice and fancy I think than the usual just bottles.

Opinions?

Thanks

:) Like that.

Wait a second you got me all worried now. I thought the guests were spose to give the Bride / Groom the pressies. I dont like being out of the loop on traditions as I am a best man for a wedding soon lol.

You give a present to the couple as normal, you're the best man. I presume you've arranged the stag do already? If the couple feels like it then they might get small gifts for all the guests or possibly just for the best man/ushers/bridesmaids - it's up to them so you don't need worry about that part whether they decide to give something or nothing.

The last wedding I went to I was given a whisky minature, before that I can't remember any gifts from the weddings I've been to but then I didn't expect them.

Hmm I am somewhat disorganised, not thought of a gift or stag do yet. Its in 2 months time and I dont know anything about best man jobs lol cept that the groom is my bro.

Well this is the first time I've ever heard of the bride/groom giving presents to all the guests. What's this all about?

Where I live (Isle of Lewis, north west Scotland) I have always received a small present/favour at weddings, in a way its kind of gotten less common, but I think its a nice touch to remember a wedding by doing this. So I hope that everyone likes them.

My wife to be is giving out small glass tea light holders with tea lights in them, they have been painted with a translucent paint of the same colour as the bridesmaid dresses (Kingfisher) and on them are our names and date of the wedding painted in silver.

I always thought of wedding favours as an Americanism, something pushed by marketing rather than tradition.

For my wedding my wife bought jewellery for her bridesmaids and sincemy best man is an artist and graphic designer I bought him a painting
