Wedding Photography?

The judge seriously owned the "professional" photographer on that. Really wasn't expecting him to be that knowledgable about it but when he said "where was your 28-70? What F stop did you use?" the two women who took the photos just looked blank :D

Thanks for sharing it mate.

Haha that's ace :D

Just watched it. Funny as.
"If you are a pro, where was your 1D?".... mwyahahahah

Shooting a wedding with a Canon 400D with a kit lens is brave. I'm not saying someone like Raymond or Phate couldn't do a half decent job but at least when asked at what F stop they are shooting they would not shout "we were using a tripod!!"

Ray has a monopod :D

Could pull it off with a 400D, can't promise it will be noise free though !

I seen a photographer who shot an entire wedding with one lens. one focal length. one camera. all horizontal. all manual focus. all F11. all day.

It came out much better than you think. (there was a couple of duff ones for sure).

I seen a photographer who shot an entire wedding with 1 prime (1 focal length), 1 body, 1 aperture (F/11).

Yes I remember that link, interesting and difficult, but my god I wouldn't have wanted those photos to be mine!

I know, I think maybe too short, hence I may be happy with getting a friend to take some amateur shots...not completely amateur but hes not a professional. BTW I plan on getting in contact with you regarding our wedding next year as your work from what I've seen on here is excellent.

Thanks :)

Although I'm booked for the next 2 weekends so can't help you out man.
Congrats to you both though!

I think you misread ;)

I think the OP was asking about wedding photography for the small civil ceremony in a couple of weeks (this is when RL is booked up).
The big wedding celebration is next year from what I can gather but OP has not given any estimate of time.

Yeah but OP also said he'd be getting in touch with Raymond for the actual wedding ceremony next year, which is where the confusion arose

Lol, im doing a full day in a couple of weeks for half that, but I am budget :D

The local girl who has just stole a wedding from me is charging £250 that includes: full day, prints, album + a cd of images.

It's a lot less than I charge but money won over quality, not a lot you can do about it other than :D when the B&G tell you what a mess it was after the day :p

Tbh mate, I wouldn't be phased by it. From my perspective at least, they wouldn't be the kind of clients I want to work with anyway, so I wouldn't even think of it as a loss.

I second shot my first wedding at the end of last year, it was a budget wedding but I enjoyed it. I then did another budget wedding, this time the clients clearly didn't give a damn about the photography/wedding in the slightest, I hated it, it felt like a 'job'.

From that point on, I decided I wasn't going to even start at 'budget' prices when I started booking my own weddings, even if it meant work was hard to come by.

I started at £750 for DVD only package this year, business was dead for the first 6 months. Then recently things began to pick up and I booked 6 weddings for the remaining 6 months of this year, and I'm currently booking weddings into next year at £995.

My goal at this point is to just keep improving and booking weddings until I average 2 weddings a month. Then I'll think about raising fees gradually to keep demand in check.

Nice, good luck with it all :)

I'm not under any illusions about my abilities, so comfortable charging what I am. The clients are familiar with work I have done and expectations have been set. I'm bricking myself as it's my first solo wedding, got to start somewhere though! I'm only doing all these weddings as I agreed to do a friends wedding in December, so I want to get as much experience in as possible before then. I do enjoy it, so might carry on. Prices will go up then though, for the moment some people are getting a good deal (as long as I deliver!).
