Wee Project Build

LOL

Due to the height restrictions inside the case I am limited as to what will fit.

Yes, yes, I realise the high-end air coolers like the TRUE or Prolimatech Megahalems won't fit. But the presence of a 120mm fan means it's almost certain that the H50 or Eco will fit, and they outperform anything other than the high-end air coolers.

The H50 won't fit due to the rigidity of the tubing and the placements of the 120 fan outlets on case.

I just wouldn't be able to mount the radiator anywhere in the case.

I assume the Coolit will have the same issues.

Getting cool air to the CPU isn't the problem. Even with stock cooler the CPU doesn't rise above 49c @ full load.

Oops - I just checked on it to verify - CPU temps were great - But GPU's were 107 & 97 and fans were on auto but still at 58% - needs to find out why.

Hmm I'm surprised because the tubing's pretty flexible, but fair enough. Those GPU temps are a little toasty though! Sure you're running the right drivers, not the dodgy ones that started frying graphics cards? :p

Running the latest drivers, fans are running normal (after quick reset).

Bumped the Bsckclk upto 200 to run the RAM at correct speed (usining XMP profile) 2000mhz - dropped CPU multiplier to 16x and cpu temps are 68c (still stock cooler & no volt mods).

Gonna peruse OcUK and aquire some HDD's and:

Hmmmmm.........

Even with fan @ 100% top GPU is still 95c.

Think I will put one in my main rig until I get some new GPU coolers.

oops lucky you caught it sooner rather than later. I thought 85 on the middle of 3 cards was hot but i have mine running @ 91% constantly using EVGA Precision. Don't suppose thats an option if it a general use PC as it would be a little loud.

 traitor, I thought you were Folding on it :o

Edit: MSI Afterburner gets my recommendation for monitoring temperatures and adjusting fan speeds. Graphics cards don't have to be MSI! It's similar to Rivatuner only it has the advantage of the user interface not being designed by a dyslexic caveman.

:D

New GPU cooler has just arrived:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-032-ZA

Along with two 500Gb Seagate HDD's

Just waiting on a new CPU cooler and an extra 80mm fan to arrive (should be later today).

Then I can set-up a new Dual Boot config - Win7 & WinXP.

Also, should be able to oc the CPU to 4Ghz - currently running it at 3.8Ghz with no issues on stock cooler (and no volt mods).

So, eventually I should be able to run SETI on WinXP and when the PC is in use just boot up Win7.

Will be installing the upgrades after midnight (when I return from work).

:D :D :D

My H50 tubing is pretty flexible, I am sure you could have managed it! There is also the option of bolting the radiator on the outside of the case top. Gives you a bit more room for the pipes. Although you would likely have to get the dremmel on it and cut out the mesh and a hole of the tubing :D

It would awesome - especially if you spray-painted it yellow or something!

I don't think my daughter would appreciate it if I started cutting holes in her brand new PC.

In my experience 9 year children have a tendancy to get upset when you start breaking thier toys......

Besides, with the new stuff installed the CPU & GPU has dropped 10c and the fans are on the lowest speeds.

Cool & quiet - who can ask for more?

All I gotta do now is install the two new HDD's and then re-install Windows 7 & Windows XP.

Job for tomorrow me thinks.

Nice.....

Processor Stable @ 4Ghz (QPI @ 6400Mhz)
Memory @ 2000Mhz (9,9,9,27)
GPU's @ 738 - 1836 - 2204

CPU @ 60c & 57c (fans at lowest settings)
GPU's @ 73c & 52c ( fans at lowest settings)

Just waiting to clear SETI Cache then I will install 2 x Seagate Barrracuda's 7200.12 (500GB) in Raid 0 and Install Win7 & WinXP.

I be a happy chappy :D

Glad to see the "wee build" all up and running loudbob well done, mine i am happy to say is settling down but i am down to 1 machine now so it better start producing! :D

are those zalman's single or dual slot solutions? I need to find a single slot solution for a 9800 to close one of my cases properly
