Weed smokers downstairs

Hiya GD.

Moved into a nice apartment and the people below us are smoking the green stuff. The whole middle floor stinks. Personally didnt bother me until I got in tonight and its coming through my bathroom. Guessing from the fans what's there.

What to do? Don't want to be one of those who ring the landlord although iv thought about knocking on the door and having a word. Although I don't want loads of **** off them (worst case).

Any ideas?

That's the thing. Only 6 apartments. Polish couple on my floor and elderly on bottom. Not seen anyone else yet. 2nd week in. This is my problem they could have been doing it for ages then suddenly a note or landlord to contact them would take a genius to figure.

They may be way too baked to work it out. :p
 
keep the bathroom door closed, or open a 2nd window to stop the smell venting into your flat.

Just ask them nicely. be polite and understanding and you should be sorted.

if however they don't take any notice, a call to the landlord is in order.

I'd probably just have a quick word with them to say that people can smell it. They might not know that the smell is extending out their door. The last thing you want to do is report them to the landlord, or whatever, imo.

Just be friendly about it, as a cautionary-type thing. They might well thank you for pointing it out to them, if they are a decent sort.

I've been in a similar situation myself and I honestly didn't mind the smell but I understand others might not like it.
 
Just write a polite letter or go down and have a quick word asking if they'd be kind enough to do it outside instead of the apartment. Hopefully they'll understand!

This.

Despite what the media might scaremonger, all weed smokers are not hoodie wearing gang members. Some people just like to toke occasionally and are more likely than not to be reasonable.
 
They could make a dedicated room in their flat with some air filters or something to combat the smell leaking out. I think they'd rather do that than go and stand outside, tbh, as that's a lot of effort for a stoned person :D.

A quiet word is probably the order of the day and take it from there. Make it clear that you're not saying it to be awkward and that you're just not overly keen on the smell and that others will be able to smell it. You may be surprised with the response you get.

It's a tough one to give advice on as we don't know anything about the people ourselves. They may be totally decent and just like to sit and smoke and listen to music or whatever as a form of relaxation. They also might be pure ***** who don't give a toss, but at least give them a chance to be decent, if you know what I mean.

Yeah ill go and have a word. From the rowing and parties they have its not sounding promising. But I agree they might be understanding. All else fails I will take our lass. Knock on the door and leg it. Lol
