Week away for two almost 40 somethings;

Prague.

Prague.

Prague.

Although no beach, it's an amazing city.

what?

Prague is full of poor people, gloomy (not dark - gloomy) and looks like it's falling apart. It only has a castle and a bridge to look at, that's it, and the bridge is full of pickpockets and the castle wants to charge you a ticket per room, lol!

street vendors all sell some awful crap wine and cheap coffee..all the shops sell crystals and glass crap.

leave it out! Prague!! never again..most boring and hyped up place ever.

EDIT: forgot to answer to OP, barcelona and majorca may be nice destinations. Majorca has its posh side which is for more mature people (the west side).

Also, it doesn't really come across as funny calling your wife strife all the time..seriously.

I'm in Croatia (dubrovnik) right now not sure about the clubbing but it has the rest (including days out eg kayaking/rafting)

I could also recommend Prague however it lacks beaches.

So, after successfully getting a chit from the strife I am away for 7 days with a friend.

He hasn't been abroad for over 10 years and I have not been away without strife for just a long,

Ideas, oh so appreciated.

Cheers, Paul.

What?

Am I the only one who doesnt understand OP?

Thanks all for suggestions. Will look a few up;

Barcelona I have been too on a number of occasions. Beautiful city and lovely architecture but never really thought of it as anything more than a city break rather than an actual beach holiday so will look into that a little more.

Prague, I would actually like to visit but it’s the friend that insists on the beach so that’s out alas.
Olu Deniz looks wonderful, however with temps hitting 33c+ ouch!
Skiathos or Lindos may work.

ntg, I wasn’t purposely trying to be funny referring to the missus as strife. It’s just one of many endearing names I refer to her as. I’m sure she has a slew of equally unfunny names when referencing me :)

Cheers, Paul.

Don't forget to bring

I was being serious about Tel Aviv. I am 46, Ive done Prague, Barcelona and a few of the other countries alluded to here in this thread and for what you are telling us you want Tel Aviv kills it. I like the finer things, I don't do slum weekends or weeks, I tend to like classy stuff not bargain basement but Tel Aviv has become one of the best venues for the things you are looking to do. The beech is fantastic, their is loads to do, places to go during the day, clubs and bars all over the city (even lap dance bars!) and loads of sensible, fit and friendly people enjoying their down time and looking to have some fun. Jerusalem, Masada, Dead sea are there to see and the places buzzes.

These sort of the threads tend to be full of the same places and Barcelona is great, I prefer Prague at Christmas myself but I would take Tel Aviv over both based on your criteria.

Im not from Israel or Jewish either!

Thanks for info. I'll discuss this as an option with friend. I would actually love to visit being more of the walker/explorer type of person, where the friend pretty much wants to do as little as possible and lay around on the beach all day which I’m happy to tolerate in the shade with a book.

Ultimately the trip is for him so I’m being led by his “comfort zones” as it were. I’m just the travelling companion.

Beach.
More mature/adult crowd.
Chilled and sedate with a hint of clubbing. (We do not want endless hordes of teenage drunks and thumps.)

Does' such a utopia exist?

Greenland fits all the criteria

Beaches of ice
Median age of the population is lower but I'm sure they're mature.
It's definitely chilled, and there's a hint of clubbing (as long as you're in to seal).

just go to belgium and tour a different brewery every day!

or Islay and tour a different Distillery every day

Im still in dubrovnik (Croatia) and it sounds like it definitely has stuff for the both of you. Also passed a night club earlier today and loads of places to drink/eat etc.

Also seen lots of beaches

As well as kayaking, cycling, hiking tours etc.

Actually that looks fantastic with plenty to look at/wander around. I'll present this along with the other shortlisted destinations later today.

Cheers all for input. Much appreciated.

Paul.
