Weekend Football *SPOILERS* 6/7 October

Was Paul Robinson as bad as some reports are making out?

Worse, he was at fault for our first goal after fumbling a shot straight at him, he made another mistake just like that in the 2nd half but Dawson got him out of the **** and was proberly at fault for our 2nd; header beat him at his front post.

Disappointing. The team has no confidence, they're playing like a bunch of strangers and we don't seem to have a game plan. Bringing on a slow striker for a winger and playing him on the wing makes no sense at all and srapping a draw at home to a team playing as poor in the league as Spurs is not acceptable. I’ve given up any hope we might had of winning the league and it might come down to us and Man City for the fourth spot if things don’t improve.

Looks like I'm going to have to wind my little sideline in scarves and T-shirts up, theres no way i can change 07-08 into 08-09.
Especially as they have already been bodged up from 06-07.

Can't you just replace the 0 with 1, that'll be about right I'd guess.

Great, that means McClaren will start with him again:rolleyes:

Does it matter who goes in goal vs Estonia? Think even I could and be ok :D

Also, on another forum, it's been suggested that Robinson's poor form is down to his goalkeeping coach Hans Segers, who was useless at the best of times. Maybe if they got a half decent one in would help him. Get in my favourite Spurs keeper ever in to do the job, Erik Thorsvedt!

Elano looks a real quality buy for Man City, forget about his long range efforts but his all round play is brilliant. His passing, his movement and his general awareness of the situation, he just brings it all together for them.

Sven is doing a good job at Man city, some people seemed to think he was a bad manager so he is proving a lot of people wrong. His team are playing very good flowing football at this moment in time. I read somewhere why his England teams couldn't play this well and he mentioned they didn't have Elano available! Quite a fair comment really as England usually look quite a disjointed team whereas Elano is the type of players who can join things togather.

They're certainly playing well although have been very very lucky with some of their clean sheets. Sven certainly has surprised me with how quickly he's got everyone to gel though. Wonder how long they'll keep it up for.

MOTD2 has RvP's free kick down as 77mph, not bad on a stationary ball.

Can't see City keeping this form up for too much longer, like CliffyG said they've been amazingly lucky at the back at times and there lack of a top stiker may catch up with them. I really like the look of the lad Johnson though, we were linked with him in the summer and he's had a great start to this season, he's really benefiting playing alongside somebody like Hamann and is already being likened to Gerrard.

Come on - the only reason you are really noticing them is because Pool has dropped so many points recently (especially at home) - the Wigan game is the only EPL game you have won in the last.....4 or 5 isnt it?:D

Man City are doing fantastically well - and surprising for such wholesale changes last summer already work so well as a team. I really dont know how long this form will last, I guess it all depends on whether they get bad injuries in crititcal places

I don't see any reason why City can't keep to a fairly consistent level throughout the season. If you take away the top 4 the competetion isn't that strong.

Even then, I think the top four have actually lost some of their lead this season. Chelsea have had all sorts of problems, ManYoo aren't always firing perfectly, Arsenal are apparently going to slip up "any moment now" (still waiting on that one ;)), and Liverpool are being predictably average at times. To me, it doesn't look like (unless Arsenal go on the most amazing run of form ever) we're going to see the leaders break away from the pack as obviously this season.

I'd say maybe Man City, Villa, Newcastle (if they ever got their act together), and Everton could all be capable of breaking the top four this season with a decent run. I'll even grudgingly admit that Spurs could (and should, really) do it too, especially since they've not been stupid enough to sack Jol yet.

For all I know, it could end up being the same as ever by May, but it just seems that the gulf between the top four and the rest has narrowed a little recently.
