Evening!
Long story short, there is a show on next april at the Grand Opera House. Ive pretty much decided I will buy my lass a holiday for christmas. Whats it like, is it relativly friendly to us geordies, (Sand dancers really!) and is there much to do?

Or should I wait and go to Edinburgh in June for the same show?

Personally i would go to Edinburgh, but thats because i live here and it would seem like more of a holiday. Though you may find Belfast more of a holiday because you have to get on a plane lol. It is a friendly place though, and there is a reasonable amount to do, depends what you're into though. Catch an ice hockey game if you get a chance for an interesting change for an evening out.

Continental Market is at the city hall in Belfast. Really good coming up to Christmas! Lots of clubs and bars around town. Lisburn Road is particularly nice for shops as well as the centre.

There are pretty frequent sight seeing buses that go around as well if you are in to that kind if thing.

Always fancied Ireland. I do at some point want to visit the Giant Causeway. (Obviously not this time . . . .)
Whats the closest airport to the Grand Opera House (Its not opera we would be seeing!) and can you recommend a decent but cheapish hotel?

Cheers all!

George Best City Airport is the closest, about 5-10mins away :) Aldergrove is about 20miles away, try Flybe for cheapo flights. Theres a few holiday inn type hotels in the city centre, never stayed in them though so wouldnt have an idea of prices. If you want super convenience then the Europa is just beside the opera house, it may be expensive though! Also has a bus an train station within vomiting distance so minimal walking is required :)

The best looking females I have ever seen have been from Northern Ireland, they are world class. They beat to shreads anything from Colombia, Iceland and Latvia. I'd go there if I wasn't attached just for the talent.

Bring your crash helmet and riot shield :p

Good bit of advice, especially if you end up on lisburn road.... :p

All seriousness come to belfast, your from up north (in england) so they'll be less fussy bout your "weird" english accent and all, and its a pretty good fun place. Belfast city is the closer airport but its only a tenner return to get the bus in from international if the flights are a lot cheaper to there.

Urm theres tonnes of places to stay (not my sofa though any more as we broke them a bit...) and theres more than enough bars in all directions from the opera house too.

Oh yeah and as guy above me says, northern girls are pretty fit! Just stay away from the ones that are bright orange (like everywhere else) unless your into that sort of thing, mainly as they are always incomprehendable

I'm really hoping for sarcasm right here.

Belfast is good. Surprisingly modern city - friendly but also a nice chilled out vibe to the place. Lots of facilities, bars, restaurants etc. They love tourists, even geordies. There's an old saying that they like visitors but not immigrants, so as long as you're not looking to move there, you'll be fine. Summer in NI is lovely.

We stayed at the Malmaison which was alright. Bit of a trek from the train station but its very close to the Victoria(?) shopping centre.

Obviously Ediburgh is fantastic, but don't see it as a case of either or. They're both places you need to tick off on your list of life experiences.
