Weekend workers, unite!

Time for you to laugh at my non-existent future and career, I do admin and call centre work for a large mobile phone retailer, both customer support and insurance admin.

Time and a half all weekend, which is about £13 an hour.

It doesn't pay too badly though, last year including overtime I took home about 18k after tax, which most people wouldn't get out of bed for. Ah well.... :p

Nothing wrong with that mate. I was simply wondering what it is you did which required you to be in at a weekend :)

Why put yourself down mate?

If your comfortable working for that justnow then so be it as this forum doesn't represent the uk as a whole;)

Nothing wrong with wanting to achieve more though.

I'm sitting in TX at the Premier League channel so its not all bad. Just watched the United Blackpool game :)

Off on Mon/tue/wed though so i cant complain.

Technically I'm not at work this weekend (but will be next), but so far I've been in three times today to play surgery on the gas filtration system. Since it means taking the mass specs down for several hours it has to be done when no-one is in. I get double time to do it, plus travel - but only one of the three lots of travel.

I work 3 out of 4 Saturdays and 2 out of four Sundays at flat rate.

But I work on the Underground, and everyone knows we're overpaid, right?

Aww cheers Jez and Jonny, feeling the GD love! :p

I live in a rented house, drive a Rover... surely by OcUK life standards my life is over? :D

I'm viewing business premises on my days off however, so watch this space. Had enough of blinding office lights to last a lifetime!

I'm doing 6pm to 6am tonight, and 6pm to 6am tomorrow as well.

Still, we've got a TV in here which we're allowed to watch, and we've got the internet. I bring my laptop in and watch DVDs as well usually.

I do infrastructure support for our hosted customers. So tonight will mostly be spent monitoring the servers, and we've got some patching to do tonight. Joy :(

Just finished my shift pattern (Tuesday - Saturday, away in my truck all week) so I can empathise with all you guys working.

That said, personally I don't mind weekends, generally, the pace is not quite so frantic & I almost feel as if I'm not at work anyway (note I said almost!)

The biggest hassle of my job is the "weekend drivers" many of which should really stay at home! :(

Strangely, we get paid more for Saturdays than Sundays.....

I quite like working the weekends. And I quite like having days off during the week.

Given the choice I like to work one day of the weekend and have one of my days off during the week (with my girlfriend if possible).

I've ended up enjoying working weekends, which surprised me.... as I've now been doing it now for just over 4 years.

My shift starts on a Friday and finishes on Sunday 07:00 'till 19:00.

Not only that, it was only originally supposed to be a temporary shift, 6 months at the most!
