* Topic : Decay

* Start Date : Sunday 1st April

* End Submission Date: Monday 9th April (because people might go somewhere kool for bank holiday and not be able to get their shots up till afterwards)

This *isn't* a competition , its to see what different takes on a subject people can have and how everybody perceives a subject differently - Also some fun :)

I think a lot of people would like to have a focus to look out for something to take pictures of rather than random shoots.

Then we can discuss these photos through the week which gives some more interesting views and comments etc.

* submit the photo once with only cropped no other tweaking, and below it one with some manipulation

so lets see how it goes, as its the first week we can discuss how well it works, and whether or not we should submit the two photos ideas etc all input welcome :)

wow although the black en white one is good because you can see the depth, the colour ones are absolutely beautiful :)

and helium_junkie, like the rust,i personally would like to see some close up shots of some bits for example

edit : Lets scrap the two images thing just put whatever up and how ever many you feel suitable up, cuz its not a competition so theres no rules

also lets try and make this thing about working to the subject rather than posting past pictures although put them up too so as to be more of a challenge,
but i reckon it will be good to have constraints in one way, and maybe gets you used to working to something for a competition
what do you reckon?

This sounds a lot like assignments set at uni/college you eeer studying photography or something Pixielady :p :D ;)

Only messin :p ,awesome idea, a monthly competition and a weekly have ago slot, keep the keen photographers busy

no no, never studied photography actually complete amature (obvious by my photies:P) but I'm keen to learn more.
well i want to become a teacher, so i'm pleased you said that i'm a natural assignment setter! w00t!

is it a negative or positive comment that it will keep people busy???

arr ok kool, i thought it was sarcastic saying that people had too much work to do , silly me! glad that you are positive about it, i think that even if it only benefits a few people or a lot it will b good :D

Well it isn't a competition or anything so u can post em for discussion if you want, but i think the main point of this thing is to get people to have a focus to what they shoot, but yeah by all means put some up for discussion, :)

edit: i think i thought decay was a good idea for thee first week too because its not too difficult to find something that everybody can shoot, but at the same time you can be as imaginative as you want, so its a chance to think outside the box with decay theres so much that it could be

Urban Decay?

Looks like I need a new polariser for my ultra wide :(

tis is really nice , glad to see you going for a little different take on decay :)

come people, lets talk about stuff that could be decay, loads of stuff it doesn't just stop at food and plants/natural stuff getting old.
theres so much things like lets see

decay of a bubble - this one i personally love to do but don't have the equipment for any suggestions of how to get that. you know when a bubble falls through the air watch it really carefully and it sort of breaks from the top and theres a fraction of a second when you get just half a bubble.

bubble rap?- aim to really get the transparent effects

um theres loads of stuff, teeth, fancy doin teeth? lol

post some ideas up people and how you could achieve them.
remember decay doesn't have to be natural think about man-made decay too...

nice photos so far tho keep it up :-) =D

i love theat picture geffen its really kool,

edit: i reckon its more about new life though lol, i think that the fungai stuff, and new shoots/buds and stuff make me think of newness :D
