Weekly Playstation Store Update thread

both massively overpriced tbh - £6.29 for 3 new rooms? that just cannot be right!

adds New Game+ too, so you can carry you stats from a previous play through to a new game, which I think should've been in from the start though :) (edit: can't get the harder trophies with ng+ apparently though)

Woohoo, Superstardust PSP is available to download now from the UK Store.

I've already bought it, and am downloading now.

Excellent, I loved it on the PS3, I hope the PSP version can do it justice
(seeing as it cost more) ;)

£6.29

And while not strictly a PSN Store download, it IS something to download anyway, a new firmware tomorrow

It looks like the arrival of firmware 2.53 is imminent, according to the official PlayStation website. The site, which is clearly written by someone a few days in the future, states that "an update to the PS3[TM] system software was released on November 26, 2008. You can use this update to upgrade your system software to version 2.53." Nice to know, but what does it do? The website doesn't give much of a clue, except that "the Internet browser now supports full-screen mode for Adobe(R) Flash(R) Player content."

A nice feature, but we're hoping there's a little more substance to make the update worthwhile. No doubt we'll hear official word from the PlayStation Blog about it before it hits.

Interesting... I wonder what else it will bring. I don't hold much expectation though as that way I can only be surprised and not dissapointed lol.

I like some of the little things they fix, that they don't even always mention.

Things like after the first update after DivX support was added, with the next few updates, more files were supported.

After the first update, I could play most DivX files I downloaded, but not the ones I'd made myself.

After the second update, all my home made files would play too, as well as a few others that didn't.

It still doesn't play 100%, but ALL the new ones play fine, but some of the older, 5 year+ DivX files I have don't play.... but as I say, never had a problem with modern DivX files. Great stuff. But also goes to show that there are often more updates/fixes than they always tell you about.

Hey, Superstardust Portable supports online highscores, like it's big PS3 Brother version.

It connects to the internet, and then to your PSN account to check/upload.

I just tried it, and had an error connection, but it just launched, so maybe isn't there yet.

But it means we can have an online Highscore Challenge, like we all did with Superstardust HD back in the day.

I've not loaded that in ages, I bet my highscore has been obliterated by now ;)

Is SuperStardust Portable out? PSN or UMD?

Quick Verdict:

Brilliant.

Not much time to play it now, but I just had one go.
It has the atmosphere, and feeling, that made the first one great.
Remixes of the familiar music, it feels the same to play, the graphics are great. I was worried how it would look on the smaller screen, with all that going on, but it's fine, and looks like Superstardust :)

The only thing that's going to take a little bit of getting used to, is the directional firing. You use the joystick to move, and the action buttons to fire in each direction, so X is fire down, and X + O is fire diagonally down and right.

Once you get used to sliding your thumb around as you want to fire, it does work though. A 2nd joystick would've been better, but I think this'll be fine after a few games. Pressing down (and up) on the D-Pad changes weapons, and the shoulder buttons for jump/turbo and bomb.

Pressing all four action buttons, does the spin around with the gold melter.

If you like SuperstardustHD on the PS3, then you'll like this just the same.

Brilliant!

I've just been playing it.

£6.29, UK PSN.

No idea if it's coming out on UMD as well, but I'd prefer having it on the memory stick anyway.
It's only 74mb.

bad news for everyone looking forward to street fighter hd

While US gamers will be able to enjoy Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on PlayStation Network today, Europeans will not be as lucky. For reasons unknown, Capcom's 2D fighter has no set released date across the Atlantic. That means our European readers are going to have to make a stealth attack on the American PlayStation Store, or they'll have to buy the game on Xbox LIVE Arcade -- the game will be on Microsoft's console tomorrow in Europe.

Its more like capcoms fault for giveing to late to SCEE, anyway this happened with Bionic Commandos no release date, talk of delays etc. It didnt come out on Thursday but a WHOLE day later on friday and all was well again lol.

Pretty sure its SCEE holding up this game - the approval is a week longer, cant see how Capcom could have got it to them earlier than SCEA as then it wouldnt have been finished code...

As I said Sony really need to work out that the faith of PS3 owners is getting thin - too many times have we had to make excuses for them...

Anyway the Mirrors Edge theme tune is on US PSN if anyone wants it - posted in the main thread but might aswell say here...
