weighted knob and synchro issues?

So I recently bought a snunk2 gear knob, and boy is it heavy! Got me thinking could it do any damage to the synchros? I remember reading few years ago about how its bad practice to rest your hands on the gearknob as it wears out the synchros.

I doubt the weight of a gear knob is going to have a noticeable affect on synchro wear

^ Yeh did some research and it doesn't effect it, having your hands resting on it has another effect which can cause wear on synchros.

How can resting your hand on the lever wear synchros? Pushing/pulling against the gate I can get, but resting?

If you are using the weight of it to brute force it into gears faster then yes you will be putting more load on the synchros though.
