hi all,

got a very quick question. I'm in the process of cutting atm to lose some body fat and was wondering if i should change my weights routine around at all. Ive heard stories that you should do less reps at a higher weight or to do more reps at a lower rate. Just wanted to clarify what would be the best thing to do. Also how much cardio should u i be getting done a week? I want to get down from 71-67kg.

Thanks for any advice

Don't stop the weight training, just eat at a small defecit and add some cardio if you want to. You can drop cardio and increase the calorie defecit though if you prefer as thats all cardio really does (although the added fitness is a bonus).

Try doing a moderately high rep range, about 12 reps and do a few sets, with relatively short rest periods.

By far the most important thing is your diet though, as long as you have that in check you'll lose some bf.

Hope that helps.

Depends on your goals and also your current ratio of muscle to fat. Heavy weights will help you hold onto muscle as you cut the calories and hopefully lead to most of the weight loss to be bodyfat. By not doing weights, or dropping the weight you use significantly and doing lots of cardio can lead to lots of muscle loss.

If you don't have much muscle anyway then there's no need to worry to about this too much as your body will keep a certain amount.

Though a good heavy workout with compound lifts will burn shed loads of calories, not only during the workout but for quite a while afterwards. Cardio isn't the only way of doing it.

What I'm finding is moderate lifting with a rest period of 60-90 seconds plus a calorie defecit is working.

If you do cardio I recommend HIIT, over doing cardio will take your muscle away.

If you have lots and lots of fat you need to do more cardio and having set proper meals to shed the immediate excess fat. I imagine you have some fat left you want to get rid of.
