I have this problem that's becoming more and frequent and it's driving me mad. Internet will work perfectly all day, then restart it next day and I can't use the net... properly.

E-Mail works fine through my E-Mail client (Thunderbird)
I can always access this one site (www.newsnow.co.uk) and google works but nothing else will work!! Not a single link from google or any of my other bookmarks will work except for newsnow and google. How crazy is that? This in both Firefox and IE so it's not down to a single browser.

It's been doing this all morning today, now all of a sudden in the last 10 mins overclockers will work but still none of the others. This is what always happens, suddenly all the sites will load and work properly, it doesn't make sense

I've run an anti-virus (kaspersky) and spybot and both report I'm clean. Virgin report no problems. How can it work for certain sites and E-mail but for nothing else and then just start working of it's own accord? Any idea's?

Sounds like a DNS problem.

enter 212.58.253.71 into your web browser address bar, if it loads up the bbc website then its more than likly your ISP's dns servers or something blocking the dns server on your network.

EDIT: do this when your net isnt working properly.

If it does turn out to be a DNS issue you could always use an alternative DNS provider such as OpenDNS either as a temporary fix while you wait for your ISP to sort their servers out or as a permanent solution.

Sorry what would that entail exactly? Would it require a lot of effort and knowledge on my part or easy peasy?
