Weird Boot Problem

When I press the power button on my case, the case lights and fans start up for half a second and then die. But about 2 seconds later they come on again and the system boots fine.

What is going on? It seems to me like it's some kind of safety device but I can't work it out. Anyone have any ideas?

Something is failing when it POST's. It might be resetting any overclock you might have as a fail safe. It's probably nothing to worry about. At a complete guess its more likely to do with your RAM settings than anything else. As another complete guess, with you running 4 sticks of RAM (same as me), adding a slight increase to the northbridge voltage might solve this. Cold boot issues can be the hardest the resolve.

Typical behaviour of a P5K, mine does it but only when you unplug the psu from the wall.

Best edit the swearing dude

I have OC'ed my rig but when CPUZ shows it as running at the OC'ed specs so I guess it can't be resetting the overclock.

RAM settings could be a possibility - I need to research them because I have no idea what I am doing.

Only running 2 sticks of 2gb RAM btw.

Heskey - we have the same CPU and MOBO - what do you think the problem is??

This is a quirk of the P35 chipset (Abit IP35 also suffer from it). It's called "double boot". The latest BIOS is meant to fix it if it annoys you too much.
