Hey all

My case has a side fan, which since day1. about a yr ago have never worked properly.

If I open the side and nudge the fan with my finger it spins, fine....turn PC off and back on again, same none moving fan?

What could be the cause?

not enough volts to start it spinning i would say ,try connecting straight to a molex(if it isn't all ready) and see if that works

Has it been 5 or 7 volted?

I have seen fans that won't spin up at lower volts than the stock 12v.

Beyond that it could simply be a very near DOA.

More than likely a failed fan. That particular ThermalTake fan spins quite slow for a 80mm. Sounds like the motor is not providing enough voltage/movement to get the fan spinning.

This can also happen if you under volt a slow moving fan. Such as the 7/3 volt mod.

well I have not under-volted the fan, I ahve not bothered manually starting the fan in a few months, I tried just and with a spin up using my finger its not workign at all now.

Hmmmm, replacement fan? is there any point to it? will it make a difference to my temps?

Not really any need for replacement to be honest mate. Are your temps good?

EDIT : Do I spot a FSB Blue Storm 500w PSU ?

41, and 42 degrees fully loaded
34 ambient

But I'm upgrading at an Intel this week. and the E2XXX run hot don't they?
