Hi!

This is possibly the weirdest outlook problem I have seen. The issue is as follows -

I have a user who types up an email in outlook 2003 (SP3). Grabs a chunk of text from that email and does edit > copy.

She then opens a new email and in the body of the new email does right click > paste. Now what gets pasted is NOT the chunk of text from the previous email. Instead it is pasting in a question mark in a blue circle.

When you check the clipboard, the blue question mark is already in the clipboard list. If you click "clear all" it will go away. As soon as you try and paste again the same problem occurs and strangely the clipboard is populated by the blue question mark again.

I have done a simple reboot as well as a detect and repair on office but this did not make a jot of difference.

Just to summarise what I have done -

Reboot - No joy
Detect and repair - No joy
Recreate mail profile - No joy
Checked cached exchange mode - Unticked
Checked to see if word was their email editor - It was not
Installed windows security updates - No joy (although still need to install further updates)

Platform is Win XP SP3, Office 2003 SP3

Any ideas? Let me know if further information is required :)

I have just tried what you say but in outlook 2007/win7 and could not reproduce your findings but what I did notice is that if you "paste special" you can paste in another word document (or HTML - hwatever your editor is - mine is word) either as text or as an Icon. Maybe it's something along these lines. Just a thought
