Hi Guys,

So i thought i'd have a go at a modest over clock on my 2600k and Asus P8P67 Pro.

I set the turbo multiplier to 40, and manually set Core Voltage to 1.2 (i realise it may go lower)

However whenever i start up and open CPU-Z its showing it using a load multiplier instead of the idle multiplier (ie 16x100) even though the CPU is at 0% load.

Speedstep is enabled in bios.

Any ideas?

You also need to set the performance level in the power options in the control panel.
Set it to balanced for speed step to work. If its set to High performance then it will stay at full speed.

Ok, a quick run down of what i did.

I restored BIOS defaults.

Changed 'AI Overclock Tuner' to manual
Change Turbo Mode from Auto to 'By all cores' (the only other option was 'per core')
Set 40 as the target turbo mode

Speedstep is enabled, turbo is enabled and C1E is on auto.
Everything else in BIOS is default.

Power mode is set to balanced.

That seems to have sorted it....thanks guys.

Now, its currently on 4Ghz with a load voltage of around 1.24-1.3 . What manual voltage would you suggest setting it to to begin with?
