Weird crash when defragging raid.

If I leave my raid drive for about a day - or install something on it (so diskeeper takes more than a minute to defrag), then my mouse goes jerky and it crashes? It's really odd..? The drivers are two WD320gb/16mb/sata2.

It crashes as in windows hard locks.

Does it only crash when you do a defrag? Are you defragging daily?

I take this is onboard RAID0?

Yeah, I'm using onboard (the JMicron controller on the Gigabyte DS3). If I install a few things and generally clutter the drive, THEN defragment - I get a crash (the mouse jerks across the screen and I get a crash).

It seems when the util is moving or defragmenting files, it creates the mouse jerk (both mouse and keyboard are on USB. I'm thinking that it maybe a conflict between the raid/usb drivers, although I'm not 100%.

So far using DirMS defrag it hasn't crashed, but it hasn't finished yet.

To be honest there's no real need to defragment NTFS that often, you really only see file fragmentation when you're running at over 85% or so space used. Below that the filesystem does a pretty good job of keeping files contiguous.
