weird crysis fps problem on 5870

ok tried to launch crysis the other day on my 1080p tv, havent really played it since getting my 5870 and found that the menus and everything were locked to 24 frames per second. i later discovered that my 1680-1050 monitor rund the game as normal, menus at 60 fps or more when vsync is disabled. also the tv also runs the game fine in a window just not in full screen, any one else having this issue? 9.12 drivers dont fix the issue.
 
Your display driver must have the refresh rate set at 24Hz. (And then you probably have VSync enabled in the game). See if you can increase the refresh rate.
 
yeah fraps displays more fps when vysnc disabled but my tv displays 24 hertz -. every other game i have tried though runs at 60 hertz.

a similar thing happens in dirt 2 which other people seem to be experiencing, which hasnt been fixed with later drivers either. except that locks at 30 fps with vsync on, on the tv at 1080p but runs fine on the other monitor at 1680-1050

I had this problem as well with crysis and crysis warhead with the 9.11 and 9.12 drivers.

Try 9.10 as for me it runs both games at 50hz, with the newer drivers it is 24hz. With the 9.12 drivers if alt tab several times it eventually goes to 60hz for me in crysis but this does not work for crysis warhead.

I had this problem with company of heroes as well but locking refresh rate to 60 in the command line solved it.

I also am locked to 30fps with vsync on in dirt 2

I am using a hd 5870 and a samsung lcd

ok cheeres - ill probably go back to 9.10 if i ever want to play crysis again properly and they dont fix it. dirt 2 is pretty smooth actually at 30 fps and is more than playable and still preferable to screen tearing but annoying nonetheless heheh.
 
9.12 is ok for crysis if press alt tab until shows 60hz. What lcd you using?

Dirt 2 in car view is great,Idon't use vsync
 
Nvidia drivers also have the same problem with running crysis at 24hz on my plasma

Been doing this for about two years :(

It not the drivers fault..
The crysis game is to blame as it picks the lowest refresh rate as default and it has no settings in the menu to change it...

hmm i played on my gtx 280 quite allot fairly recently just before i got my 5870 and never had this problem. it is also linited to dx10 full screen dx9 full screen works fine.

someone said they found a solution by making a custom resolution on nvidia control panel but doesnt seem to be a way to do that on catalyst

I had this problem with Crysis Warhead. got around the problem by running the game in a window rather than full screen. For some reason it doesn't give any refresh rate options in the display menu. In a window it will run at 60hz but it does prevent crossfire from working.
 
I had this, ran the two screens (2405 Dell and 46" Samsung 1080p) in clone mode at 1080p/60hz. Did the trick.
