System specs:
Motherboard: Gigabyte EX58-UD3R
Processor: Intel core i7 920 @ 2.67Ghz
Memory: DDR3 6GB (corsair tri channel)
power: corsair, TX-650W
-=Graphics Card=-: MSI Radeon hd 6850 cyclone power edition (OC)
So I've had this graphics card a few months now. Originally when I got it it just crashed whenever I ran a game. I did loads of things, reinstalled drivers cleanly, reinstalled my os multiple times, updated my bios, chipset drivers, underclocked it, set my processor clock to default etc...
I rma'd the card after trying all this and it was sent back to me deemed unfaulty. As to whether this is right, well through all my experience with the card I would vouch for it to be incorrect, but who can really tell?
Anyway, the card slowly seemed to get better, although it seems it mostly improved on it's own, I did all these things in the first week of receiving the card and it only marginally improved the card. The underclocking was what seemed to really solve a lot of the issues. Now though I'm not even underclocking the card and it seems to be working with games perfectly. And also with benchmarks. It's never underperformed, with benchmarks even when I first got it, it would either work fine and meet all reqs or it would just crash straight off.
So now the card works fine in all departments apart from one. Rather than crashing in games it now crashes when playing online video's, i.e. youtube or bbc iplayer. It crashes maybe 1/3 of the time after I've left the computer to it's own devices for a time. If it doesn't crash I can generally play video's online without a problem. But quite often I'll go to play a video and it'll just die. My computer goes with it I think as sometimes if i'm playing itunes the music will wail like some tortured machine.
The card, when I first got it didn't crash in video's, only in games. Now it never crashes in games (touch wood) but does crash sometimes in video's.
lol, the card has confused me like nothing else, has anyone got any ideas?
