weird harddrive issue

i have got my new computer over the weekend and suffered a strange (possibly newbie :confused:

) problem. The computer came with no OS so i put xp on myself.... the hard drive is a samsung sata 7200 250gig drive. When xp was up and running the hard drive capacity was reading at 129 gig! ......

When i checked in BIOS it states that the drives capacity is 250 gig..... I thought about trying to put windows again or that i had made a partition by accident.... but on the windows format drive screen it claims that there is about 130 gig.....

my spec is 2 gig samsung ram / quad core 2.4 / Gigabyte S series mobo / Nvidia 8800GTS 320 meg

if anyone can help i would really appreciate it

Install the service packs.

Right Click on my computer > Manage > Disc Management.
Now as I currently don't have this problem I cant tell you exactly where to go from here but you should see some missing unformatted space, right click on that (I think its one of those), whats there?

yeh i found the partition .... how strange it would come with a partition.....

either way i have formatted it now .... ty
