Weird HD DVD Thing

just wanted to compare Xbox 360 HD DVD quality against my Toshiba SD-370E upscaling DVD player (which to my satisfaction, HD looked better). However, playing them at the same time in PIP on TV, and the HD DVD is slower. Litterally the DVD plays faster so you can't play them at the same time, the DVD always gets ahead of the DVD. Why is this the case? The HD DVD is in sync, as is the DVD, but the DVD plays quite a bit faster.

Isn't a dvd recorded at 25fps and a HD-dvd at 24fps. I think you might find that its just the tv having a problem how about play the dvd for 30mins on its own see what frame you are on the play the hd dvd if its not the same then its very odd

you know I think your right. The dvd played smoothly but the hd dvd jerked a bit when in pip. On its own, couldn't notice the jerkiness. Whether thats because of what you said, or i had no direct comparison i don't know. Will investigate tomorrow

PAL speedup, the DVD runs 4% faster as it's 25fps. Should have listened to both, you'd have picked it up immediately.
