Ok i have been having some problems with my windows installation...so i took the drive out, and hooked it up to my laptop using a usb cable to pull some data off it and then reformat it so i could stick it back in my desktop and reinstall windows. all good so far. connected to the laptop and pulled off the data...all good. reformated...all good. Now this drive is a 300GB drive with an 80 partition where windows was installed and that was the only bit of the drive formatted. the other 200 gig was holding data. Ok so windows on the laptop showed the drive was formatted and working correctly. Take the drive to the desktop and plug it in. run windows installation and it says the drive installed is not formatted and is only 128gb...odd as the only drive installed is the 300gb. So i take it out again and plug it back into the laptop...its now showing in windows as a 128GB drive in RAW format...what the hell happened and how do i fix it...? I have read about the problem with pre sp1 and 2 for xp so i will try a xp sp2 slipstreamed install disk...but that doesn't explain why the laptop which runs vista...could read it fine earlier....but now when its plugged in...it reads 128gb...

Well you now know that you need to use an SP2 slipstreamed version of XP to see disks bigger then 127gb, as to the RAW it looks like the install has marked the drive. Try using something like Partition Magic v8 or higher to see what it makes of the disk.
