On the 645 the engine is idling over at 800 rpm which seems to be a tad higher than usual  and the temp gauge gets to around 90ish any ideas over the high rpm?

Anyone got any useful advice ? thanks for all advice given much appreciated :)

Temp gauge at 110c ? is that a miss type, if thats correct that is way too high for coolant temp should be around 90c

Like I just said.. it doesnt have one. Coolant temp variance is only reported when outside the 'safe' range, when a warning message will be displayed.

I wouldnt have thought high idle RPM and coolant temp issues would be related.

How old is the car and how many miles has it covered?

I don't get it. Where have you read 90°C from if there's no gauge?

No idea - it has an oil temp guage in place of the analouge MPG guage on older cars but IIRC the first marked increment on this is 110c.

kirkand, is this with the car from cold? It will idle higher when the car is cold, and 800rpm doesnt sound far off.

110c sounds a bit high for minimum oil temp, my oil sits around 93c ish once up to temp. Maybe he is reading the oil temp ?

i am quite sure there are a couple of sensors and one of them is in the cooling system..

yes it usually in the morning around 7 30

want this sorted so i can get ready for selling some time soon..

Are you sure there is anything wrong with it

At 7.30am you will have lights on, heated rear screen probably, cold engine, probably the AC.. its bound to result in a slightly higher idle?
