That stinger looks evil!

Thought that myself at first. Found out later that it isnt a stinger, thats the female and the long probe is an egg laying thingy.

I found this one in a local park a couple of years ago, pretty tiny though, I had the lens about an inch away from it

it looks like a shield bug to me. don't squish it - it'll release a disgusting smell for hours.

scoop it up with some paper, take it outside and then squish it.

then set the paper on fire.
