weird interference on x1800

Well after a little more fiddling about I have found that I can now use cat6.3 with out the problem if I install just the drivers and use AtiTrayTools and not the CCC.

So for me it looks like the problem is being caused by something the Crapalyst Control Centre is installing or setting

I guess it's not really a problem at all, were all just picky ...which isn't a bad thing.

No, it is a problem.

It was constant vertical and horizontal interference scrolling accross the screen, it's definately not normal. I'm on a DVI connection too, so it shouldn't happen.

Tried the Omega 6.3's and the regular ATI 6.4'a and still getting the problem. God only knows what ATI have altered to cause this.

Tested further its not the CCC, as it does it both with this installed and without.
And its ok in cat 6.2, problem is in 6.3 and the 6.4's

I get it, but i don't honestly know what the fuss is about tbh, how close do you sit to the screen to see it, as i only notice it if im like staring at it from like 2mm away.

Uh, i'm sat about a meter away from my screen and i can VERY clearly see it.

This is a well documented problem on quite a few forums and one i have noticed myself using VGA

If you have DVI you wont get the shimmering (or atleast i dont) ,or as mentioned, roll back to Catalyst 6.2

Hmm, wonder if it shows more on certain screens, i suppose it must be annoying if you can clearly see it.

As i said its very, very faint on mine, have to go right up against the screen just about to see it.

I'm using DVI and i got the interference problem, don't see why using DVI rather than VGA should stop shimmering in games though, that's a rendering problem with the AF?

Perculiar indeed, I don't get this problem at all and I am using the 6.3's with ATI Tray Tools (not the ccc) and a DVI connection to my Samsung 213T and a VGA connection to my Plasma screen, neither display exhibit this problem.

Woops, forgot to mention I am using a Powercolor X1800XT 512

using the power colour model 512mb master card version here. it only happens on detention of different displays and when tabbing to and from games, i.e. changing your refresh rate / screen res. its perfectly normal as long as it lasts no more than a few seconds.

I wouldnt criticise ATI on that forum cause the mods are super ATI fanboys and get quite upset.

just installed the 6.5's and it seems ATI have finally sorted out my interference problem, took their time about it tho, been stuck on the 6.2's for ages.

Where did he say he was going to criticise ATI on that site? All he did was link there. And the only time the mods get upset is with blatant trolling etc just like any other forum.

I have found rage3d to be very imformative when using ati cards.

I have found rage3d to be very imformative when using ati cards.

I have only used ATI card since r8500 and have just under 1000 posts at rage3d. Im entitled to my own opinion.
