I am having some weird issues with my PC, I purchased and built my current PC around 16 months ago, upgraded to Windows 8 on release and have had no issues until Sunday.

System was running with two 1 TB Samsung HD's and the SSD being used for rapid storage, all was good. Then I started to get random lock ups forcing me to restart the PC, decided to reload and with all the messing around getting rapid storage working on the SSD I reloaded Windows onto the SSD all has worked but I am still receiving lock ups.

Now the weird thing is the below they seem to basically be happening two hours apart could just be a coincidence but its very strange. With the lock up everything seems to freeze and then it forces me into a reboot, the error message is useless and tells me nothing.

I have run the memory test built into Windows 8 and used the hoover to remove all the dust and check everything is plugged in OK, but I am thinking now it may be a hardware issue and not related to my Windows load?

I have not over-clocked the system. Anyone any ideas on what I should look for? When its not locked up it runs with no issues and no pattern to the locks ive been playing WOW, on the net and watching You Tube so far when its happened.

Well first thing would be to do a complete reinstall, if it is still happening after that we can then decide if it is software or hardware.

If it was hardware it would most likely be a RAM or SSD issue, or perhaps even cpu heat issue but you said it was dust free so that might be ruled out.

Imo, do a reinstall of Windows and report back with the results.

Makesure your running the latest BIOS and rst raid drivers for windows 8,that's probably where the issue lies imo

Ok I did do a complete reinstall on Sunday night and moved Windows to the SSD drive, can try a BIOS update as I do not think ive done that since I got the mobo. Does not seem to be an heat coming from the PC at all the cooling is pretty decent.

Check SSDlife and see what firmwire as well as powered on time the SSD has been on for? Older verions had a 5400 hour bug which can cause problems, but the newer versions fixes this.

Ah sorry I re-read, get back to use ones you have done a bios update.

Hopefuly that is the problem, decent rig, would be a shame to replace parts due to fault.

Thanks for the help have done both the mobo and SSD bios updates, reading about the 5400 bug and that sure sounds like my issue, will leave PC on tonight and hopefully come back to it still on in the morning.

Thanks for the help.
