Weird k800i bug

For some reason my k800i doesn't like my brothers number. It is stored in the phonebook as his mobile under his name - definitely the correct number.

However if he calls me, his name doesn't come up, only the number.

If I call him using the phonebook, even if I select his name out of the phonebook and call him, when I look at my call list it is his number and not his name.

If I get a text message from him only the number appears, no name. For some reason the phone can't associate this number with his name!

I'd suggest you just delete him from your contacts/phonebook and add him again?

Done that - makes no difference. It isn't his name it doesn't like, just the mobile number. Have totally deleted contact etc and put him in again, but no matter how I enter his mobile, be it 07901 or +447901 it does the same thing!

It is really the strangest bug I have ever come across on a phone.

Is there another entry in your contact list with the same number as your brothers?

It might be that with two entries the phone doesn't know which name to display, so just shows the number

Very good lateral thinking! But no :(

lol - sounds like your mate has the same sort of number as me.

For some reason my mates 750i and 800i doesnt like my name and number. If you change one digit in my phone number it works a treat on both phones.

you'll have another number in your phone that matches the last 3 digits of your borthers phone , phone onoly use last 3 numbers to id the callers name ;)

No way!? I must have atleast a few numbers that end the same 3 digits. I have loads of old contacts.

Hmmm... i've had a landline number listed under two people and it just picked the one alphabetically first whenever the number called me.

Been through every number in phone book. Last 3 digits are 648 and those don't belong to anyone else!

tried copying to/from SIM etc. (just be careful so you dont delete all the numbers :p) incase the phone is only looking through phone saved contacts and you're saving the number to the SIM?

It isn't that - all are definitely on the phone! Weird...

hmmm... I suggested that because I know mine has done funny things due to half my addresses being SIM and half Phone :/

What a very odd problem

maybe you have that name/number stored on both the phone and the sim card. Think ive had something similar in the past. Even with the same name, the phone doesnt know which one to display

Don't think it is that because I have erased the whole phonebook completely once before, tried storing ONLY his number and it still doesn't like it, so then I restored the phone book from the PC again.

set your phonebook to look at just the sim or just the phone, I had this with a work phone and it was because I had the number in 2 places for the same person and it screwed it up when I was using sim and phone.

Adding +44 etc makes no difference.
