Weird network disconnection issue

I use TPLink power line plugs to link my AV stuff in the lounge to the router, NAS etc in the study. There's a TPLink router at either end. I'm having this weird problem where the network in the lounge randomly disconnects. To fix it it I just unplug the cable from the router to the power line plug and pop it back in again. Everything then starts working again. Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

Unfortunately I can't help, but I'm getting the exact same thing with my router in the lounge downstairs and my PC in the study upstairs. Mine are also TP-Link (model AV500+ Gigabit) Which model are yours?

Ditto! I'm wondering if it's about the power line plug going to sleep. There seems to be an issue though I haven't quite twigged how to sort it out. Or even if that's what's causing the problem.

I thought that, so I downloaded a utility to switch it off which I ran, but in all honesty it still seems to do it.

Actually I've done some more reading up and I didn't realise that I had to run the utility on each powerline adapter. I had only run it from the PC in the study - thinking it turned power saving mode off for all connected adapters but I took my laptop and connected to the adapter that connects to the router and it said it was still on, so i've switched it off there too now, so fingers crossed!

If you wish I could email the utility to you as I tried to find the site i downloaded it from but it appears to have gone offline now. Drop us a trust message if you want it and i'll send it across

Message sent. Thanks!

No worries. I've just sent it with some instructions, hopefully they make sense!

Fingers crossed this works (now i've ran it on both the adapters :D )

Edit: i've had a mail back saying delivery failure? send your email address in trust to see if it matches the one that ocuk trust system has on file, as thats the one I sent it to...

I have the same issue. I have tplink 6010 600av plugs

1 in the lounge and 1 in the study connected the my router.

In the lounge I have all the av gear and a wifi hotspot connected through a tplink 5 port gigabit switch. Hard to know why but the wifi seems to stop responding for periods of time.

I've nt done any lengthy testing but I'm blaming the switch box and returning it.

Tomorrow I'm going to leave my laptop plugged in and on to the switch box and when the wifi halts see if the laptop can still surf the net.

The halting/freezing of the wifi lasts around 4 minutes. Then starts up again without having to do anything.

Hope it ain't the powerlines, already returned one set that came with euro plugs. That said I've streamed nowtv all night with no problems by having my wifi hotspots plugged directly into the powerline adapter. Points again to the switch box.

Yes, I meant a switch. In my case it wasn't the switch as that was my initial diagnosis as well. I replaced the Tenda switch with a TPLink one. Same problem.

Yeah cable is obviously best. But I get 300mbps over mine. So I really hope this wifi freeze isn't related to them. Switch is delivered today.

Ljt - just realised I never got your email. Could you resend it please?

I sent it to the email that was listed in the trust message you sent me but it came back as undeliverable? (it was a gmail address) Drop me another message with your email in and I'll re-send it.

However, since I've used the power saver utility it doesn't appear to have worked :( but you might have better luck

Resent.

Just realised that the power line adapters were working fine until just a couple of days before I made my initial post. I'll try turning the power saving off myself but it's rather mystifying.

Apparently gmail doesn't allow attachments with an exe to be sent/received! So I've uploaded it to my onedrive account with a link to it in the email i've just sent you, hopefully this will work!
