Just put in a accerlero twin turbo on my hd 4890 and its quiet which is nice, compared to the stock cooler, but now I can hear a tiny mosquito like buzzing from the case....its really strange.

When i am working in a 3d modeling program and moving around the viewing angle, is when it seems to happen....or when there is a lot of hard drive activity...

In fact it is absolutely synchronised with when i move the viewing plane in my 3d app. Spooky. Its not as loud as a mosquito...like its almost imperceptible but its still f'ing annoying...

Is this something to be worried about...or could be just some sort of vibration going on...

any tips would be great.

thanks

sometimes that's actually a sound card issue. try disabling line-in and microphone and see what happens/ or just disable all sound and it should go away.

i used to get this all the time on my old PC. really annoying ;)

Whats the card like when running furmark? if this gets loader this could be Capacitor whine on the card in which case I have had this disappear over a short period with constant use.

Fortune is correct as this has been a problem in the past when the 4890 was first released mainly with the XFX branded 4890's.

Coil whines are common for high end graphics cards because of high currents.
(would have to be darn freakily build capacitor to have any possibility for movement of internals)

That's associated to integrated "sound cards" which are very prone to interference.
