Hi all

Turned my pc on this morning and was getting into a bit of f1 2020 and it just randomly turned its self off. It did this a few times, a few times in windows, once while loading windows and once in the bios.

I initially suspected the power supply (it's not the best)

Specs are:

Ryzen 5 2600x
Gigabyte Aurous b450 elite
16gb corsair lpx 3000mhz
Nvidia 1660 super
Deepcool Ganermaxx 400 cpu cooler
Antec p900 case (old but still works fine)
Kolink Modular 600w 80plus Bronze PSU

I did have the cpu vcore offset to -0.078 and pbo enabled. The ram was running 15,15,15,35 timings with gear down mode disabled to allow the odd timings. GPU is clocked at +25 on core and +800 memory.

I reset the the bios to optimzed defaults. It hasn't shutdown since. The cpu vore is now at auto and pbo renabled and ram has default timing with xmp enabled.

Temps were and still are fine doesn't go over 70c when stress testing and vrms average at 60c. Tbf they have increased by 10c but I'm putting that down to setting vcore to auto.

I haven't had chance to do anymore testing before work so will be doing some more tonight.

As I said I do suspect the psu but with vcore on auto it should be drawing more power but hasn't restarted since.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions before I start rma on psu (only part still with warranty luckily)

Thanks for your help

Sorry, but I'm not seeing anything that indicates that the PSU is at fault. You have everything as it should be and it's working fine.

CPU VRM of that board is pretty much garbage.
You don't want to stress it any by pushing CPU to draw more and who knows how good it's keeping voltage stable enough if undervolting.
(undervolting reduces "error margin" for VRM's output voltage)
So keep CPU settings at stock.

But so is also that Kolink bad PSU brand.

Thanks guys

Tbh when I brought the psu I hadn't heard off any bad reviews on it (should really Google this stuff) but that being said it was running in the previous settings for a year and no issues. It just decided to go crazy this morning.

A new psu isn't really an option at the mo as money being tight with the imminent arrival of baby no 2 (I would but the Mrs wouldn't be pleased lol) so rma is the only.option if it is bad.

For now it seems to be working so I'll turn off pbo so not to tempt fate and see how it goes.

Don't confuse people doing "Polly wants a cracker" parrot play with marketing lines as review.

There are hardly any reviews of any Kolink in sites doing proper autopsy/part analysis, load testing with measurements etc.
Something which should ring alarm about quality/performance.

Corsair cx series don't seem bad
That's basic/standard model sold with brand sticker. (though better than VS)
During years one or two models have even been overspecced for their actual capabilities.
Also Corsair likes changing insides without clear change in model name especially in these lower series.
