Weird phone call.

For the past couple of years, I've been receiving strange calls on the house phone. Nothing threatening or anything but just had two almost back-to-back after not having any for a while, so thought I'd see what you guys make of them.

A private number rings, and then when answered all you can hear is a series of regular, identical electronic beeps. Almost like a heart monitor in hospital. If I don't pick up and let it go to the answer phone I hear the same thing on playback. I assume the beeps go on for a long time, but I've never listened for any length of time. Talking at it makes no difference.

So, have I somehow tapped into a Soviet numbers station? Is Skynet trying to steal my voice for T-100 beta phase? Do I need to buy some tin foil?

Any ideas?

I would only worry if you move house, change number and it continues.

Next time record it and then the next time it happens after that play the recording back and see what happens

Probably some bank autodialler that has the wrong number loaded into it, this used to be quite a problem. Ask Ofcom.

I get EXACTLY the same thing, and have since I moved here.

To stop it, I got a call blocking system called True Call. And its worked. But looking at the logs, I've noticed a few weird things about said fax machine.

Starts off by calling from an international number.

If you have them blocked, it trys a withheld number.

If they are also blocked, it calls from a bournemouth area code.

Glad I've got call blocking, it was dialing my number at 2-4am every day. Was not best pleased.
