Weird problem with BSODs whilst running Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Do you still have the stock CPU cooler? If so try that and see if it helps with the heatsinks around the CPU if this is the issue. The Coolermaster V8 does not blow air down to cool the PWM heatsinks. If i remember right the board comes with a small blower fan that can sit on the heatsink but i doubt it will fit on with your V8.

Although im sure overheating it would freeze but you never know.

Also at this point i might be wanting to remove it all from the case and just use bear bones. All your mini dumps seem to be different every time.

Also have you tried reinstalling XP since to see if the problem remains?

Right, this is interesting. I've just had a development. It was a few weeks ago since I tested the memory, it's also a few weeks since I've updated my bios.

I've just tried testing the memory in Memtest86+ v4.20 and it's just found 4 faults...

I'm gonna wait for this one to finish and then I'll let it run again. I'm thinking that maybe it's my memory that wrong, like you said it's coming up with different problems each time and it's hard to pin point. I'm thinking now it's memory related, I bet those Radeon HD 4 series cards I've been running are fine. I guess if I buy more memory then I could also upgrade at the same time cos it's Windows 7 I've got now and I could put more in than what I'm running now, more like 16GB even perhaps.

Gonna go and price up some replacement stuff, see how much it costs etc.. It can only run DDR2 this board but I bet it wouldn't cost too much now compared to when it first came out.

Hold on there don't go buying new just yet!! make sure you run an aggressive scan with memtest and do each stick individually, It could be you only have one dodgy DIMM and not need to replace them all!

I'm not sure what's going on here really, I did a Memtest before and it found a load of errors, now I've rebooted and I'm testing again but it's not found any this time.

I'm thinking that I remember before I changed to the current bios, my machine was a lot more stable. I've experienced this before, you change to the latest bios and hey presto your machine doesn't run right. I used to have a PC a while ago and I updated the bios and then the memory was finding faults in Memtest but before that it was fine.

It's weird, the last bios seemed to be better than this one ever since I've flashed it it's been running really poorly. It was better on the old previous bios. Do you think I should revert back to that one and see?

I've been thinking about trying to get some replacement memory (whether that's actually necessary I'm not sure about) but it's hard to find these modules now because everything is DDR3 and not DDR2. It's difficult to find them, I see them a bit on ebay but used ones. I was thinking about maybe you can go on the Corsair store and purchase from there, the United States or whatever. They said on their site about $92 for replacements, if I was to buy 2 that's quite a lot of money.

Any suggestions??? Do you think a bios revert would be a good idea to the previous version?

OK, I've gone back to the previous bios now. I'm on 2201 now. Hopefully this should do the trick. Will test out my memory again later to see if it does come up with errors again. I'm just running Verifier at the moment to test out all the drivers. So far it seems to be working a lot better now, no blue screens as of yet. Will let you know more later...

I'm still finding errors with the memory. I think probably the memory is faulty. I'm testing each module on its own tonight in Memtest and see what happens.

I'm gonna see about getting some more of this Corsair DDR2 stuff, like it's hard to get these days, it won't be easy. I'm thinking that if I can get some more I might send this stuff back to Corsair and get it replaced because it has a lifetime warranty doesn't it?

I'm not sure how that works, I've never sent faulty memory back to Corsair. Isn't it in California, USA?

sounds very much like your ram is the issue.

It depends on what memory it is, it may have life time it may not.

I would definitely look at getting some more ram and DDR2 is reasonably cheap at the moment, I myself just picked up 2x2gb dimms for £13 in the members market, and eBay is just as cheap!

Well I've been testing the memory a lot in Memtest. I tried last night by putting just 1 stick in at a time. 1 stick seemed to pass quite well, the other stick had a few errors. But since testing them together again usually it seems to pass but sometimes I get errors. It's hard to say that I've got an exact memory problem but last night I was running the machine in Windows 7 for quite a while. Problem was though it blue screened again.

I'm not sure whether going back to the previous bios has made any difference, maybe it has? It's hard to say...

I've had to put a bid on ebay for some more ram, exactly the same as this one. Somebody is selling them brand new also but I've gotta wait till Sunday (this weekend) before the auction ends. Hopefully I'll win them, there doesn't seem to be much interest in these DDR2 modules, unless I'm wrong of course.

I just hope I win! Anyway, as soon as I can get this new ones in I'll test them and see how well it runs then. The other 2 I may well send back to Corsair and see if I can get a replacement. As far as I know, yes they do have lifetime warranty on these, they're not supposed to go wrong but maybe in this case they have. At least if I get the new sticks from ebay then I can use those ones and send the others back and then I've got something for my machine to run on.

I just wished I of bought a motherboard now that can support DDR3 it would have been much easier.

Well thank goodness I've managed to sort it out. Thanks to your help guys on this thread I figured it all out and it's running much better now. I won the bid on ebay last week and I got hold of exactly the same memory as I had before, the DDR2 stuff. It wasn't easy to get really. I installed the new stuff and it was much better. I've sent the old stuff back to Corsair and just did the step by step thing on their site and they said send it back to The Netherlands instead of the USA so that was good.

I sent that a few days ago now, hopefully they should have that back by now. Because it's got a lifetime warranty they should test it and find that it's faulty and then send me some more new stuff as a replacement. That's what I'm hoping anyway. I'm still running in 4GB but if I can get the new stuff sent to replace the faulty stuff then I can have 8GB running.

This version of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit seems to be running really well now, no blue screens or anything. Also I've got this new much better Corsair Dominator fan over the memory which doesn't make this horrible noise when it's running, this one I've got now is the Dominator GT fan. It's a lot better than the earlier one.

Also to make sure my motherboard is really cool I've added some extra fans in the side door of my case. 3 of them now acting as Intake to blow cool air over the whole motherboard and try and keep the temps down. At the moment my graphics cards are both running at about 45/46 degrees C with the fans set to 55%. Also from looking in PC Probe II the CPU temp is at 19 degrees C and the motherboard temp is 29 degrees C. I hope that's good anyway.

I've got some pictures here so you can see what it looks like now.

I just want to say an extra thanks for helping me anyway, I'm glad now this machine seems alright. I was worried before about the crashes and the results from the mini dumps were so random it was very strange.

:)

Glad your getting it sorted :)
As a side note, HOLY CABLE NIGHTMARE BATMAN!! You could really do to sort out your wiring as the air flow through that lot will be shocking! (the lack of it)

Yeah I know good point. I guess it is a bit of a mess really, when I first built the machine I made it really good but since then I haven't bothered. I'll plan to do that soon and get all the wires more tidy looking. I've got some velcro straps to use.

You know I got a message this morning from Corsair. They said they can't supply that memory anymore as it's discontinued :( Shame really, I managed to buy the same stuff from ebay.

If I'm gonna get another matching 4GB of the same Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066Mhz then I'm gonna have to buy from ebay anyway. They can't send me any from Corsair but they wanted to send me some that's not as good which is 800Mhz instead. That stuff is no good to me and plus when I bought this Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066Mhz stuff it cost me over £100. It's not fair them trying to fob me off with cheaper stuff.

I've asked them if they'll refund me somehow so I can purchase some of the same stuff I need from ebay instead. It's worth a shot I guess, no harm in asking. Interesting to see what they do Corsair I've told them I don't want the 800Mhz stuff and why and for what reasons.

Shame, if Corsair can't get it that's pretty poor in my opinion
