Hi guys, having a bit of a weird one with my OC on a q6600. I've gone to water so bumped it up from my previous 3.1ghz to 3.6. My temps are well down under 60 and seem to hover around 55-58 under prime/orthos.

I've got q6600 @3.6 1.48v in cpu-z, 1.45 under load.
Gigabyte p35c-ds3r running 404fsb with 1.58vcore set in bios.
ocz gold 2x2GB ddr2 6400at 2.0 mem multi (808mhz) at standard timings and 2.1v

I've dropped my cpu and fsb down and raised the memory multi to see how fast the ram can go and it's good past 860mhz at standard voltage and timings. past 860 and it fails to boot into windows no matter how much voltage or timings i change.

If i increase the cpu and fsb up to my current speeds and try raising the fsb the system starts becoming unstable towards 410fsb and fails to boot into windows past that.

Is it the memory holding me back and being put under extra strain due to the higher fsb? I reckon i can get the cpu a lot higher as it only went up 2 degrees going from 3.3 to 3.6 after 2 hours of prime I'd love for it to get to 3.8ghz but it's just not happening. I've tried extra volts on the northbridge and MCH but it still presents the same issue as it nears 410fsb.

Would it be worthwhile trying to pick up 8gb of ddr3 as the board can support both? My reasoning being the extra headroom on the ram would let me push the OC higher and i don't think theres much point paying for faster ddr2 now as the ddr3 would be compatible with my next upgrade down the line.
