Hi this may be long but hope someone can help with an idea as to what i should do.My old hyper psu packed in in my pc which i replaced with a XFX Pro 750W Core Edition from overclockers it has ran with no problem.Last night the computer shutdown and would not power up,heres what i did to try and find problem.
Uplug and reset bios and took out all add in cards and unplug all drives. still dead

Removed board and set it up outside on bench with psu still fitted in case. Still dead
Removed psu and placed it on bench with fan upways and tried again and it worked.
Rebuilt pc and tested as i went along all ok.
Refitted psu fan downways and the computer was dead
So i unscrewed it and turned it fan upways and it works tried a few times and everytime it is fitted downways its dead.Have been in touch with xfx and they say its strange and to contact reseller but im not sure as its working fine upways even when under load.
Any advice as to what to do.Is it on its way out or could it be something silly.

If it's totally dead then I suppose it could be a loose switch or something, or a loose component that when is hanging off the board loses contact but when put fan side up has enough weight to make a contact with the PCB.

Whatever the issue is I wouldn't be too keen on using it as a power outage at just the wrong time could wreck a hard drive or cause a hardware failure.

Before I were to put this back in a machine I'd disconnect it from the PC and put it on the bench. I'd then attach a fan or two and short the green wire with a black in the 24 ATX connector and then have a good old shake of the PSU to see if it's a loose component. Mind you there's not much you can do to fix it without losing your warranty anyway.

Oh and it might also be worth checking/replaicng the kettle lead connection. I've had leads with loose prongs in the IEC connector that only worked when the cable was held and presented to the device in a certain way.
