Norton rules at stuffing your PC.
The newer versions of norton aren't actually all that bad ime
Alternatives include Kaspersky, NOD32/ESET
Yeah, from what I have read the new 2009 Norton is actually meant to be pretty light on resources. It still doesn't make it a good AV though.
I personally think NOD32 is overpriced.
Avira premium or Kaspersky would be my choices.

Googled and found nothing and those user folders were deleted once and then came back a few days later....'I'm assuming virus of some description due to the strange font type.
Rootkit Revealer won't install on my system & the online ver doesn't work either which is a shame...
As it stands the user folders haven't returned so I'm waiting for a trigger (if there is one.?) & whilst out the cat 5 gets pulled. PC performance hasn't decreased and everything runs as it has always.
Can anyone recommend a rootkit cleaner or similar (tried Prevx and it doesn't support 64bit o/s)?
I'll post a HiJackThis log as mentioned above in the relevant forum also.
No solution by the end of the week I'll format hd (which such a pain in the ### reinstalling software and registering/emailing to obtain keys etc....)

I don't know why people have issues with it, it's always worked well for me '360 ver 2 that is!(till now lol). Some of AV sites mentioned in this thread show Norton as a close second to their own products, and it's not a resource hog in my setup. Let's face it diagrams stating x is better than y isn't a valid reason to buy a product. My own reasons for using Norton would be 10 yrs of use and no issue's = they get my dosh.
