Basically, yesterday I purchased this tv:

Seeing as I didnt have a hdmi cable yesterday I connected it to my laptop via VGA cable. To my surprise it set the resolution to 1920x1080 and it looks fantastic, very clean and clear.
However today I recieved a HDMI cable, when I connect my laptop and TV using HDMI cable instead, it shows that the correct resolution is set, however the picture looks slightly distorted in some places (mostly visable on text, looks almost like artifacts) and the picture isn't very clear/sharp. Connecting over HDMI also gives me a black border round the whole image!
What could be the problem here?
