Weird Windows 7 problem

fresh installation of Windows 7

and now my close bracket key won't work!

It's not the keyboard, tested that.
Language settings are all correct.

Any ideas?!

It was a fresh install, another one surely isn't going to help.

And no, bog standard USB keyboard

Have you got another keyboard to test with that machine? Or a different USB port? Have you also tried typing the key in different applications - notepad, Word, IE etc?

hold down both left and right shift key at the same time (do this for several seconds), if that didnt work do it again this time pressing "alt" at same time ie all 3 keys..

go to control panel, click on accessibility options..in the keyboard tab, click on the settings buttons for sticky keys, filter keys and toggle keys and deselect the option to use shortcut

try those .....
