Previously because I'm the only user on my PC my machine boots straight into XP yet I powered on my rig today to find Windows displaying the welcome screen

Now I didn't use my PC at all yesterday so the last change to my PC was having Crysis installed Thursday night, I did check to see if the problem could be down to a windows update but the last one of them that got installed was on the 13th (Tuesday) so I would have noticed it before now if it was down to that.

So I guess I'm asking if anyone else has had this issue when installing Crysis or if not does anyone have any ideas how I can get XP to boot straight into the desktop again as I had it before.

Hi, I haven't got this problem or my brother either and we only installed Crysis yesterday. If you want to boot straight in to Windows I just use TweakUI and select the "auto logon" tick-box. :) Works like a charm.

Cheers!

Go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Switch of Guest Account and Delete all other accounts.

This should allow your computer to boot directly into your account. (other than your own :D)

That would delete some .net accounts and other things so isn't advised. Instead you should run "control userpasswords2" and untick the "Users must enter a username and password" box, and enter your account details to auto login.

Yep that's what I did earlier to solve the problem

Thanks for the replies anyway guys :)
