Hi guys,

I’ve imaged 250 Dell Optiplex’ GX520’s over the past few months and have been rolling them out perfectly fine, however 2 of them are constantly giving me jip even after re-image or reinstall of Windows manually

With or without anything installed, just sat on desktop with nothing but a monitor, mouse, keyboard and network cable plugged in, you’re suddenly presented with the an error report dialog, then with you click send/do not send, you’re presented with the 60 shutdown dialog box similar to what use to happen when you were infected with sasser virus on win2k

The machines are virus free, have windows xp pro with service pack 2 and all windows updates installed and are exactly the same as every other I’ve rolled out. I can cancel the shut down by doing shutdown –a in command prompt, but then nothing runs on the pc and you lose all networking and devices etc …

I have attached screenies below, shows “Services and Controller App” failing, and nothing on google helps :-(

anyone got any ideas?

Have you had a look in the Event Viewer under Administrative Tools? just to check their isn't any other errors for application or system.
Don't think this is likely to shown up anything else but I have been surprised at errors etc in the past that have shown up here. :)

Had this shut down fairly recently happen to me again and ran the fix blast removal tool from symantec I think it was and it came up as clean, but unfortunately I just can't remember what the problem was. :(

Are all of these 520's the exact same spec?

Does look like a virus-

If I were you I would try and totally rule out any software/driver conflict by testing the system in safe mode- Trying the Dell Diags- Low Level Format and re-install with XP CD if possible...
