Weird Wireless Problem

We have various construction sites throughout the UK all with the same router configuration and the same WEP key.

Now today after 12:30, 8 sites, each with numerous different users have all lost their WEP key. They can find the network and go to connect but the WEP key field is blank. Some users on the affected sites are fine.

How is this possible?

Possible software update, either on the hosts or the router itself?

Is there any particular reason you're using WEP and not WPA? WEP is depreciated nowadays.

The routers are still setup fine. They have kept their settings, it is the clients that have lost the WEP key.

We still use WEP as we have 5 - 600 laptops all configured for our site routers. It'd be a ball ache changing all that over.

Have a look at event viewer.

Turns out it is a corrupt group policy.

Now gotta go through EVERYONES laptop and re-enter the WEP key. a lot more of a ball ache than it sounds.
