Weird yellow stain in new loop

Ok I've just finished putting together my new loop and have been leaking testing it for about a day.

All I've put in it is deionised water from halfords. I noticed this on my waterblock...



Any ideas?
 
I rinsed them sure, like I always do and have never had this happen.

There is also some bright green stuff between the 'fins' in the gpu block.

Can both yellow and green stuff be flux?

Btw, I'm using EK gtx 1080 fe block, EK ASUS monoblock and EK ram block.

None of the other blocks are showing staining or green stuff.

I'm also using black ice sr2 radiators.
 
I see green on copper pipes a lot when the flux hasnt been cleaned off after theyve been soldered so i guess it could be the same thing.

Have you got any of that mayhems cleaner stuff? I ran that through my loop for a day or so and it cleaned out all my old blocks and rads really well.
 
It does look like rust! But the loop is literally about 48 hours old.

I think I'm going to email EK and possibly just dismantle my entire loop of flush each component thoroughly with the mayhems stuff.

is it safe to leave all your stuff in the pc while running the mayhems blitz? i might give that a go if so.
 
It certainly looks like rust, might be a flaw in the plating might have been there before you used the block, going by the grinder marks on the block I would have sent it back anyway, it's as rough as a Badger.

They always have them swirly marks on them, i assume they leave them on to add more surface area rather than buffing them smooth.

It's more down to poor machining, I've had some that looked like they let a monkey loose with a grinder :)
