Weird

And I notice something. I notice that my boot time is longer than usual. When booting into windows it takes quite some time to load as compared to last time.

And I notice that when windows is starting up, it takes quite sometime too. Which component constitutes to the speed of windows booting and starting up?

just a wild guess...
have you got a printer connected? if you have not go to
start\control panel\folder options\ click on view tab and untick the top box in the advanced section + disable print spooler in services

I had a little problem like this when playing RACE with my X1950 pro. Like you I was only getting this in that game. My frame rates were high but it kept jerking every few seconds. I played it again the other day and noticed that it had stopped.

I remembered I have done three things which could have stopped it:
1) Messed with some CCC settings
2) I dropped my CPU speed because it was running hot/unstable
3) I also uninstalled .NET 2.0 and installed the 1.1 version.

Im not sure which of these fixed it but hope it helps.

Edit - I was also running AVG

I mean, what is print spooler?

Interface between Windows and physical printers. Not sure how this would affect your game though. Are all your GPU settings at stock?

I was getting this on CoH too on my old box before it died. It went away after a reinstall but came back after a while - unfortunately as I'd done quite a bit before playing again I couldn't pinpoint exactly what caused it.

I was running AVG as well.

The weird thing was - if I launch task manager and have it on top of the game graphics, everything in the game runs smoothly!!one!

I tried changing priority to realtime in task manager but no diff.

Ah well, new rig coming soon for me so I wish you the best of luck with finding the gremlin :)

Anyone know the problem to this?

if you have turned off everthing at start up and it is taking a while to start, its normally down to windows trying to find printers on your network.
if you have not got a printer, then by stopping xp looking for one at boot up will knock about 4 secs usually(thats a long time for me :D )
also disableing print spooler will save some memory

This is a wild stab in the dark but are you that your hard disk is running DMA?

This sounds awefully like an error I had a few months back when windows decided to overwrite my drivers and my pc ground to a halt.

it seems odd that its doing it in just one game though - to be honest it just sounds like a graphic driver bug - its possible that they are writing a fix for it to be included in a future release, and then again they may not know about it - i would contact your graphics card manufacturer (ATI/NVIDIA, or the actual manufacturer like ASUS).

It could be that just cause dosent like SLI, you have too GTX's is SLI and quite a few games seem to perform worse in sli/crossfire, and have a few problems.

Probably not but just a thought.
