Well done Virgin Media

well, i kinda fixed the problem, managed to set up static ips, but still have issues the netgear wireless card (mainly conflicts between the netgear wireless setup tool, and windows wireless setup) but so far so good, actually getting speeds i can do stuff with, playing tf2, my ping has gone from >999 down to 20ish, hoorah!

im in the same area haringey and yup had the same problems im on 10mb.. had some slowdowns in the evenings 9-12 to around 1-2mb.. now it looks like they fixed the problems my net is working fine again all day...

what's more reliable then? so i can check it out when i'm at home (thanks for the input though)
get Bandwidth Monitor program, it'll show your download speed in Mbps.

some people get confuse with Mb (megabit), MB (megabyte), Mbps. internet explorer shows the download speed in MB which isn't the same as (Mb, Mbps)..

my 9 quid a month 2mb service that ive never had a problem with just got upgraded to 10Mb for freeee. happy days. only time will tell if its still as reliable

so the 2mb service goes to 10mb, the 10mb service is going to 20mb i believe? what about us poor saps who already pay for 20meg? nothing extra?

Give them a call to their cancellations department and get the price lowered in line with what others are paying. They're extremely helpful.

I have 20mb and just did this, now paying £26 pm was £36, and there sending me a new modem and wireless router! not bad for a 5min phone call!

And just have to say the service in my area is always really good, never dropped for me once in over 5 years, always hit max speeds or just off max:

Downloading off newsgroups i get 24meg+

Never had problems with my Virgin BB. I've had my cable installed for as long as I can remember. I have never been called to a house with internet problems using Virgin cable (Blueyonder/NTL as it was). It's always problems with ADSL with BT at the top.
