Well it`s finally happened

I have needed glasses since I was 17 (actually needed them before then but it was my examiner on driving test who made me go for a test as he threatened to fail me as I could not read car number plates on that little eye test bit we had at the end back then).
however last eye test the optician warned me this may be my last pair of single prescription lenses. I may have to go bi or variofocals next time.
not exactly delighted about that , and don't want multiple pairs of glasses either.

btw I always use slightly larger fonts but not because of eye sight.

;)

I never did pluck up the courage to ask him what a blind person does with a computer. Maybe the dog was playing up again and he thought he was at the station...? ;)
Think of all the automation and specialisation a computer allows, what would they do without it is probably closer to it. I used to play with quite a few blind people on a text game, many years back and they were as good as anyone just requires certain tools setup in advance. I dont know if any modern game is at all accommodating like that but obviously people adapt, save a fortune on the graphics I guess :p

I also have three pair of glasses -reading -computer (distance of 1.2m) and driving - When you are young not being able to see is last thing you think of but I can honestly say I would rather lose a arm or leg than eye sight.

Assisting someone who is blind hit me when I was 6/7 and a woman asked me to guide her across the road -I grabber her arm and she turned on me and in a loud voice said don't grab me just gently touch my arm.
I never forgot that and years late I had a manhole cover up and was in process of putting gates around but was one short so went back to van and a blind person was only about 5 steps away from serious injury -I shouted Stop! and fortunately he did. I then guided him past with lightest touch on his arm and because he was now off course explaned to him where we were.

Of the two, eyes or deaf (i suffer both) then being deaf is better than losing your eyesight.

OP if you read this -best of luck for the future.

Life is a bitch.

Indeed totally agree with that.

Instead of using works free eye test with specsavers going to book a private optician. Get the feeling specsavers are just trying to push me through the system.
